How to write interesting articles

The internet has definitely become a major source of information for everyone with its volume growing by the day.

This has been greatly facilitated by individuals who develop this content and make it available for us either through their own websites or others.

Publishing your content online creates the opportunity to  not only communicate to your readers, but also make money online either by motivating potential clients to take action that results to sales or professionally writing for other websites for a fee.

However, many writers still do not understand how to write interesting articles that capture the attention of their readers as well as initiate action that leads to sales, simply because they do not know what to write about.

As a writer or publisher, you definitely want to come up with original articles that are interesting and unique. But not everyone is gifted with the creativity or the knowledge to do so. This is why I always advocate for rewrites, if you find yourself in such a dilemma.

A rewrite is simply just redoing another writer’s article in your own words. It gives you the opportunity to redo articles that you have previously found to be informative and thus relevant to your readers.

However, you need to make sure that you understand the article first before rewriting it in your own words so as not to change its meaning.

Making rewrites can be a great opportunity for you to be effective in writing interesting articles because you get to rewrite articles that are interesting to you and likely to be so, to your readers.

Sourcing for interesting articles to rewrite can be quite troublesome. More so,  if you are just new to this. That is why you need to be conversant with the best sources for such kind of articles.

From my experience, I believe the key sources for these articles usually are……

  • Websites that provide the same information as you do. You can obtain them from search engine searches or feeds, if you subscribe to them •
  • Specific forums that you participate in such as social media forums. Links provided by friends can be good sources •
  • Books, magazines and other print publications such as newspapers are usually good sources for such articles •
  • Article directories also provide you with informative articles. You can also add your articles in these directories once you have completed them

It is important to note that before you undertake any responsibility related to rewriting, you need to have a plan that will guide your content writing.

Because, a good plan helps to arrange your ideas and ensure a good flow of the article preferably beginning with an introduction, followed by the main body and finally, a conclusion.

“A rewrite is simply just redoing another writer’s article in your own words.” You have to be really careful with that – because ideas can be plagiarized, too. I don’t recommend rewriting someone elses’ article; if you aren’t creative enough to come up with your own, you should probably not experiment with freelance writing.

True Angie, the idea behind the rewrite leans more towards using the original article as a form of inspiration. If you’re going to plagiarize the ideas or the writing itself, then it’s all wrong. As you said, “you should probably not experiment with freelance writing” it might not just be the thing for you.

So, you recommend reworking someone else’s paycheck to try to make a quick buck off of it?

That writer you are ripping off needs a paycheck, too. It is better to take another writer’s work further than the first writer, giving credit and a link to the original writer. This way you create a dialog that benefits both of you.

The readers you want are smart enough to recognize derivative work that provides no additional value. They will go direct to the source and skip you.

No I don’t. The idea behind rewriting another person’s work is mainly a recommendation to people who are obviously having problems coming up with their own original ideas. Take note that if you’re doing this, then YOU MUST provide a citation (preferably through a link to the original source) to the person who originally wrote the article. As you put it BOB, take another writer’s work further.
